What Happened To The Essential Phone?

The past year and a half have not been a great one for the Essential Phone as the device has seen a number of price drops and flash sales across the board. Now possibly a final nail in the coffin the device is out of stock on the official Essential website.

Announced and released in 2017 by Andy Rubin, the father of Android, the phone was created to change the way the industry looks at smartphones but sales never really took off.

The first month saw sales as low as 5,000 units, and by the end of 2018, only 150,000 Essential phones were sold.

A successor to the phone had been announced in 2018, but it has since been cancelled leaving us with the question, What happened to the Essential phone?

Currently with the phone no longer for sale from its official website, along with Best Buy and Amazon both listing the device as unavailable it appears the future of the phone is pretty clear.

Droid-Life.com reached out to Essential and received this final statement about the future of the phone.

"We are sold out of Essential Phone on essential.com and won’t be adding any new inventory. We are now hard at work on our next mobile product and will continue to sell accessories and provide speedy software updates and customer support to our existing community."
