Toilet Troubles On The Space Station
Some bad news this morning coming from the International Space Station as their toilet has sprung a leak.
According to a new report from NASA, the ISS toilet dumped two gallons of "water" on the crew recently due to an accident on board. Luckily the crew was able to clean up the water with towels and repair the toilet for the time being.
The current version of the toilet onboard was delivered to the ISS back in 2008 by the space shuttle Endeavour.
The toilet works to capture the waste of the humans onboard and then send it back to earth where the waste burns up in the atmosphere before hitting the ground. As for the liquid waste, that is filtered, and 80% to 85% of it is turned back into drinking water for the crew.
Some good news though for the crew of the ISS as a new toilet is on its way and should arrive at the station sometime in 2020.
