SpaceX Successfully Launches 3 New Canadian Satellites
Early this morning a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket blasted off from the California coast to deliver three new Canadian satellites into orbit.
The flight went off without a hitch even with the dense fog in the area. The Falcon 9 delivered the payload into orbit, and the main booster landed back on land minutes after takeoff.
This mission was an important one for the Canadian Space Agency as this flight delivered the RADARSAT Constellation into orbit. RADARSAT is a group of three identical satellites which will operate around 650 kilometres above the earth. The satellites will observe Canadian land and water areas as well as the Arctic region.
These observations will be used to gather data on sea ice in the nearby oceans along with the Great Lakes.
