Samsungs upcoming folding smartphone was recently shown off at their developer conference in San Francisco, but very little details were revealed beyond it has a folding display. Today the Dutch tech blog Lets Go Digital has obtained a 74-page report which contains new details about the upcoming phone called the Galaxy Fold.

Samsung Galaxy Fold Rumoured Specs:

  • 7.3 Inch 2152x1536px foldable display
  • 6000 mAh Battery
  • Dual Rear 12-megapixel cameras
  • Snapdragon 8150 Processor (North America)
  • Exynos 9820 Processor (South Korea)
  • Starting Price: $1,800 (USA off Contract)

The first item on the list is the display, which is said to be a 7.3-inch foldable OLED panel with a resolution of 2152px x 1536px. This will be the large display on the inside of the phone. The exterior front display specs are not known.

An interesting addition on the inside of the phone is its 6000 mAh battery, which will be split between two cells on either side of the hinge mechanism. This larger battery will help to power the larger display for longer and keep the phone in check with other smartphones regarding battery life through the day.

Along with the new battery design the phone will feature a Snapdragon 8150 or Exynos 9820 Processor on the inside. The Exynos processor will be used in South Korean models, and the Snapdragon will be used elsewhere in the world.

One of the most significant bits of news coming out of this report is the price tag for the new phone. According to a breakdown of the phone's materials, it will cost $636.70 to build. That's 70% more than the Galaxy S9+. The material breakdown goes on to show Samsung planning on charging a 65% markup for the Galaxy Fold and selling the base model for $1,800 in the US.

We can expect to learn more about the Galaxy Fold in February at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona Spain where Samsung is expected to announce this phone along with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S10.
