Samsung Ends Collaboration With Fake Supreme Brand
After its somewhat rocky announcement months ago Samsung has announced they are cancelling their collaboration with Supreme.
When the collaboration was initially announced, many online were quickly skeptical of the partnership between the two companies. It turns out they were right to be as Samsung had partnered up not with Supreme NYC but Supreme Italia a company founded to steal the logo and designs of the US counterpart.
Supreme Italia operated under a rather impressive set of copyright laws in Italy which gave local companies preference over foreign ones for copyright law; thus the Supreme brand was copyrighted by an Italian company. When it comes to China, this is another big issue for Supreme NYC as the company is not allowed to sell or market in the country, but the Italian version is.
Samsung then decided to partner up with the Italian knockoff version to bring the supreme branded Galaxy phones to China.
This collaboration appears to have fallen apart though as on Sunday Samsung made an announcement of Weibo stating they were terminating the partnership.
"Samsung Electronics had previously mentioned a collaboration with Supreme Italia at the Galaxy A8s China launch event on December 10th, Samsung Electronics has now decided to terminate this collaboration."
