Qualcomm Announces the Snapdragon 855 processor for 5G phones

Yesterday was a big day for Qualcomm as the company announced their new Snapdragon 855 processor at an event in Hawaii. This new processor is designed to power the future of 5G smartphones.

Last year the company announced the Snapdragon 845 processor at the same event and it went on to power the best smartphones of 2018. The new 855 is expected to do the same thing in 2019.

One of the most significant additions to the new processor is the support of multi-gigabit download speeds on new 5G networks under construction around the world.

The Snapdragon 855 will also provide up to three times the AI performance over last years model, and a new dedicated computer vision processor built right into the chip.
