New Version of Edge Will Support Chrome Extensions

A week ago news broke that Microsoft was working to develop a new version of their Edge web browser based on the same technology as Google's Chrome browser. Today more information has leaked as a member of the development team has confirmed on reddit that this new version of Edge will support Chrome extensions.

In response to a number of questions on Reddit Kyle Alden stated: “It’s our intention to support existing Chrome extensions,” and “We intend to bring the next version of Microsoft Edge to all Microsoft devices”

This is another big move by Microsoft to bring their Edge browser in direct competition with Google's Chrome browser. It will also make it significantly easier for developers to code extensions for the browser.

It's still yet to be seen if all these changes to Edge will win users over or if Google Chrome will continue to dominate the online browser space.
