Google Maps Adds Speed Limit and Speed Trap Alerts
Google maps is now an even better navigator while your driving as the iOS and Android apps have added speed limit notifications along with alerts for speed traps along your route.
The new speed limit feature will display the current speed limit in the bottom left of the google map screen, allowing you to always be a way of the top legal speed along your route.
The speed trap notifications may be more useful for users who are travelling through an unfamiliar location as Google Maps will now display speed traps along your route. As you get closer to the position of the trap, Google Maps will even audibly tell you about the speed trap, so you don't forget or find yourself speeding through the area.
Features such as this have been built into similar apps like Waze for some time. Google purchased Waze back in 2013 for $1 Billion, but the elements from that app are just now starting to be adapted into the main Google Maps app.
Google Maps users have also been able to report speed trap data to google for the past year, and now the company is starting to roll that data back out to users.
