Elon Musk Teases Tesla Self Driving Features For The End Of 2019, But Will He Deliver?
During a recent podcast Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, stated that Tesla Autopilot would be entirely self-driving by the end of the year, and you could sleep while the car drives at the end of next year.
While appearing as a guest on the recent podcast with Cathie Wood and Tasha Keeny Musk talked all about the future of Tesla's self-driving technology.
"The car will be able to find you in a parking lot, pick you up, and take you all the way to your destination without an intervention." - Elon Musk
Musk did note though that doesn't mean the system will work correctly and drivers would still need to monitor the car while in this mode.
"My guess as to when we would think it is safe for somebody to essentially fall asleep and wake up at their destination? Probably towards the end of next year ... That is when I think it would be safe enough for that.” - Elon Musk
Though this may sound impressive, it should be taken with a grain of salt as Elon has made statements like this in the past. Originally Tesla was supposed to have their fully-self driving mode available to users years ago, but yet even today users are still waiting for this functionality. Its something Elon has been teasing for years, and I for one will not be holding my breath. Once the feature launches ill be happy, but until then I will think of it as science-fiction.
